Watch any video from your Mac/PC via Air Video
Air Video is an app for streaming videos to your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch without transferring your videos to the device. In addition, if the videos in your collection are not in format supported by iPhone, Air Video can convert them on fly (live conversion) or offline (entire file).
First of all, you need to install Air Video server and app on both your Mac/PC and iOS device. The server software is free to download while the app costs $2.99 in App Store. Once the server is running, add folders that you want to share. If you have videos in your iTunes playlists, you can also share those playlists.
If Air Video Server has been runned before, the preference window will not open. You can access it using Air Video Server icon in menubar (on Windows the icon is in system tray).
When you want to watch streamed videos via Air Video on local Wi-Fi, add your pre-configured Mac/PC to server list in Air Video app.
If the original videos are not in format that supported by iOS device, you may either play live converted videos or convert the entire file offline. Click “Global Settings” to set conversion parameters. Nearly all popular formats are supported by Air Video to convert and stream.
“Play with Live Conversion” requires iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with firmware 3.0 or newer and sufficiently powerful computer. “Convert” button starts offline converting and you may browse the progress in ”Queue” window.
Also, if there’re multiple sound tracks or subtitles, it’s simple to customize the reserved ones for converted video.
